A Twitter friend of mine got me thinking on the subject of “honey-toned chanteuses,” and I realized there aren’t many around who are currently performing. The days of standing in front of a microphone in a lovely satin gown and singing slyly, seductively, are in the past. But there are a handful that still come to mind, and Kimbra is one of them.

I’ve posted one of Kimbra’s videos before (my favorite of hers, “Good Intent”), but I really like the subtext of this song and its accompanying video, as well. Plus, she’s a little weird, and I appreciate some weirdness in my honey-toned chanteuses. Don’t you?
