Preview Chapter of LOVE UNTAMED

I’ve posted the first chapter of Love Untamed, the second novel in the Iliad Lane series, on my website!

For all that Cadence tries to be a lady, when it comes to horses, she tends to run wild:

Just as she settled King’s foot back on the ground, she heard it: the quick clicking of boot heels echoing off the cobbled aisle.

Cadence froze. She’d chosen this time of day specifically because no one was supposed to be in the barn. It would simply be her and the horses so she could do what she needed to do. One little investigatory mission, and then she would leave.

She couldn’t leave if she were caught.

Slowly, she rose from her haunches, reaching automatically to check her veil as she did. Given the darkness of the stall, it was unlikely anyone would notice her presence, but she ducked under King’s neck to flatten herself against the far wall.

The footsteps grew louder, closer, and Cadence sucked in a breath.

And coughed.

Damn dust motes.

“Who’s there?”

Cadence cringed, recognizing the voice. This went so far beyond not good that it actually verged on very bad. She already knew she had no business being in King’s stall, as she wasn’t an owner, a trainer, a groom, or a jockey, but if this particular man discovered her presence, she was in serious trouble.

The footsteps approached the stall, and from her hiding place behind King, she saw a tall, slender silhouette through the bars. “I said, who’s in there?”

Oh, bollocks, she needed to cough again.
